Ring doorbells are becoming more popular today, with more people now becoming more conscious of their safety. Even though your ring doorbell offers lifetime protection against intruders or theft, you need to protect it with a ring doorbell warranty, just like any other electronic device.

Ring doorbells have a ring video doorbell feature that allows you to see when something or anyone is at your door by detecting motion and sending you a notification. There’s Ring protect basic and Ring protect pro or plus, and each of them has a different warranty period.

There are several instances where you may also need to replace your ring devices, and one is when your warranty period ends or expires. So, what do you do when your ring doorbell warranty expires? Let’s find out more about ring doorbell warranty coverage and how to ensure that your ring device is protected.

Does Ring Doorbell Come With a Warranty?

Yes, a ring doorbell comes with a one-year warranty automatically included when you purchase the Ring camera. The limited warranty provides you with certain legal rights. The warranty covers repairing and replacing any Ring products that undergo malfunction due to workmanship or defective parts at no cost.

The original one-year warranty is not transferable, meaning it only applies to the original purchaser. If you buy a secondhand ring doorbell, you’ll need to make a subscription to the available Ring protect subscription plans. Ring company may make any replacement or repair with both refurbished and new products at its sole discretion.

The original warranty also offers theft protection. If the ring video doorbell or ring camera gets stolen, Ring replaces the same stolen product with a similar one at no charge. The theft protection policy is not transferable and only applies to the original consumer. Theft protection is limited to one replacement on your doorbell and ring product and must be claimed within 15 days of theft. Also, if you don’t report the theft to authorities voids the theft protection.

However, the original warranty does not apply to some products or certain instances. The one year warranty does not cover for:

  • Repair services and damage due to negligence, misuse, abuse, or casualties like fires
  • Damage due to acts of God or natural calamities including floods, tornados, hurricanes, and earthquakes
  • Damage of consumable parts like batteries
  • Products purchased from third-party dealers like eBay

How Long is the Ring Doorbell Warranty?

The ring doorbell warranty is limited to one (1) year from the purchase date of the ring video doorbell or the ring device. If you want your warranty to extend, you have an option to subscribe to a ring protection plan other than the original warranty.

The subscription you settle for – whether Ring protects basic or Ring protect pro, will determine the kind of warranty your ring doorbell has after the original warranty expires. Ring protect plans come with different warranty periods.

If you subscribe to the Ring protect pro plan within the original warranty that the ring device comes with, Ring offers you a lifetime warranty. All you need to do is keep your Ring protect pro or plus subscription active. That means that you’ll need to constantly pay for the subscription, which can be done monthly or yearly. The plans you purchase also allow you to store the recorded footage in the cloud.

How to check if Your Ring Doorbell is Still Under Warranty

Are you unsure of whether your Ring doorbell’s warranty is still valid or not? You can confirm from your dealer or seller. The ring doorbell warranty only lasts for one year, so if the period has elapsed, it means your warranty is not viable. You can also confirm with Rings limited warranty to see how the warranty works and what it covers.

How Much Does It Cost to Fix a Ring Doorbell?

If you’re thinking about replacing a ring doorbell or having a new ring doorbell installed, then you probably want to know how much it will cost you. According to Porch’s report, the cost of installing or fixing a ring doorbell by an electrician ranges between $100 – $250.

Most electricians charge their labor on an hourly basis, and each of them has its minimum requirement. That means that ring doorbell installation costs vary between electricians, so we encourage you to shop around to find a better deal.

However, if you have the necessary electric experience, you can easily install a ring doorbell by yourself. Installing a doorbell or a video doorbell is relatively easy if you’ve worked in the construction field and are also experienced with electrics. But if you’re not comfortable or confident enough to install a ring doorbell on your own, the best option is to request a professional electrician to help you out.

An expert can correctly interpret the manual’s writing and install the ring device according to the actual writing. In addition, the electrician will be able to conduct tests after the installation process to ensure the ring doorbell is up and running well.

How Do I Insure My Ring Doorbell Once the Warranty Expires?

While Ring doorbell’s warranty covers theft, several other issues are not covered by the warranty. In addition, the original warranty only lasts for a year, meaning that you’ll have to purchase a warranty again. The best option to protect your doorbell is to insure your doorbell once your warranty expires. But how do you insure it?

Just like your house or any other valuable property needs insurance, valuable gadgets like ring doorbell or ring video doorbell needs insurance. This way, you won’t need to incur out-of-pocket money if you encounter things like accidental damage.

With AKKO, you can protect any gadget you value, including electronics. AKKO also provides some of the most inexpensive but comprehensive phone protection plans. The levels of gadget protection are also comparable to some of the major device protection companies in the industry. Here’s a detailed head-to-head comparison of our plan stacks with other companies:

From the above comparisons, it’s clear that Akko offers superior insurance plans. The most exciting part is that you can still save even more by joining the family plans. With the program, you also access the special pricing for student members. Family plan users can insure pretty much any valuable items from accidental damage and theft.

Keep Your Ring Doorbell Protected With AKKO Insurance

So, if your Ring gets stolen, lost, or damaged, having a comprehensive insurance policy like AKKO will provide you better protection. AKKO insurance allows you to offer protection for all your valuables, from ring doorbells, valuable electronics, or any valuable gadget.
