Properly functioning Airpods deliver impressive audio quality and astounding noise cancellation. They pair effortlessly work with iPhones, Mac, and other Apple devices. Unfortunately, there isn’t much you can do when the AirPods turn faulty.

Apple’s Airpods warranty is often limiting and can’t come to your rescue when the warranty expires. Ultimately, you’ll have to buy new AirPods, which can be costly if you don’t have this plan in your budget.

While Apple’s warranty is limiting, you have other options at your disposal: the AKKO AirPods insurance! This guide covers everything you need to know about the AirPods warranty and what to do when the warranty expires.

So, let’s get to it!

Do Airpods Come with a Warranty?

Owning an iPhone device isn’t enough, which is why you want additional accessories like Airpods. The best part is, Airpods are wireless and more convenient than wired earphones or headphones. Also, if you’re a music lover, you’ll appreciate the hands-free operation.

However, like all electronic devices, it’s common for Airpods to turn faulty. You can drop them at the gym, in the house, or on your way home. Depending on the magnitude of the fall, you may have to write your AirPods off completely.

The easy way out is to visit your nearest Apple store to buy new AirPods. Sadly, not everyone can do it, which is why a warranty comes in handy. If you’re wondering whether AirPods come with a warranty, the answer is yes. However, the warranty is limited to certain conditions, as you’ll discover below!

Below is a quick rundown of Apple’s limited warranty requirements:

  • Your serial number.
  • Proof of purchase.
  • Prepaid shipping box.
  • Original AirPods.
  • AirPod box.
  • Charging Case for people who use AirPods or AirPods.

What’s more? There are three ways to replace, service, or repair your AirPods while the warranty is still active. They include;

  • Carrying your AirPods in-person to an Apple store or another dealer.
  • Mail-in repairs to Apple directly.
  • Contact Apple Support by phone.

The Apple support department is pretty fast, so you should receive new AirPods and a charging case in a week. Here’s the link to use to check your service request status.

How Long is the Airpods Warranty?

Apple offers a one-year limited warranty for Airpods and the accompanying accessories starting from the purchase date. The warranty covers your devices against manufacturing defects only. Damages caused by accidents and unauthorized modifications aren’t accepted in the warranty.

How To Check If Airpods Are Still Under Warranty

Stuff happens, and probably you have a lot on your plate. So, there’s no shame if you can’t remember when you bought your AirPods. The good news is there’s an easy way to check your warranty status if you can’t remember.

  1. Visit the check coverage page on the Apple website.
  2. Next, fill in your details like the serial number, then enter the captcha code. There are a few ways to find your serial number. First, you can check your charging case’s lid underside or next to the barcode on the original packaging. You can also find it by going to the Settings app on your Apple devices > General > About > AirPods for the number.
  3. Click continue to go to the next page.
  4. The page that loads has the information on your warranty status. In particular, you should pay attention to the “Repairs and Service Coverage” section. It should be active if your warranty is still on.

How Much Does it Cost to Fix Airpods?

Fixing damaged AirPods and other accessories is free at Apple. However, free services are only guaranteed if Apple’s one-year limited warranty, AppleCare+, or consumer law covers the damage or loss. On top of that, you’ll be required to pay a $29 incident fee.

For example, the warranty covers damaged batteries and defective charging cases, provided they have a manufacturing defect. However, if a warranty doesn’t protect damages, Apple can repair or replace them at a fee.

AirPod Max out of warranty fees isn’t straightforward since it depends on the repair type. So, it’s best to ask a service representative for service fee estimates. Like AirPod Max, AirPod Pro, and AirPod charge a $29 incident fee if you have an Apple Warranty cover.

The out-of-warranty fee for AirPod Pro is $ 89. Both wireless charging cases and MagSafe charging cases cost $ 89. On the other hand, the charging case costs $ 59, while wireless charging and MagSafe charging cases cost $ 69.

The service fee for faulty batteries is $ 79 for AirPods Max, $ 49 each for AirPods / AirPods Pro, and $ 49 for charging cases and wireless charging cases. Also, all prices are US dollars, and out-of-warranty fees are liable for a $ 6.95 shipping and tax fee.

How Do I Insure My Airpods Once the Warranty Expires?

Apple Warranty and Applecare+ are excellent for iPhone users’ protection. However, they can be limiting! While you can upgrade to AppleCare+ after your warranty is expired, the best option is to find an alternative insurer with a better deal.

There are many options to consider, but we recommend AKKO insurance services. This will save you the time and hassle of finding a reliable AirPods Insurer yourself. Plus, we’re reliable and experienced. So, you can count on our insurance services.
